The last sailing weekend of the year has come and gone, but what fantastic weather we had this time around!
On Friday evening, we arrived at the farm and enjoyed a cozy night filled with all sorts of games. We played sjoelen, Uno, Valse Motten, a surprisingly tricky game of counting to 21, and many more.
After a short night’s sleep for most of us, we headed out onto the water on Saturday. The weather forecast had warned of no wind, but thankfully, we ended up with a perfect breeze, and we sailed to Oudega. We even carried out a real “man overboard” drill in the chilly water and played an exhilarating game of tag using the buoys. The day flew by quickly, and as the sun began to set, we made sure the boats were ready for the night. A few of us even took a refreshing sunset dip before sitting down to a delicious meal.
That evening, new games were brought out, with “Happy Salmon” being the most intense and enthusiastically played. We laughed so loudly that even the fish in Flakke Brekken must have heard us! The clear skies of Friesland were filled with stars, so stargazing was a must during our evening walk. Some of us were lucky enough to spot a shooting star! The night ended a bit earlier this time, as everyone was quite exhausted from the fun-filled day and evening.
With the clocks turning back, we were granted an extra hour of sleep on Sunday morning, which was perfect! For two of the boats, alarms rang as early as 6:30 a.m. so we could catch the sunrise while sailing. We woke up gently to a soft breeze and the slowly brightening sky, and then it was time for breakfast. After a hearty meal, we all set out on the water once more, this time sailing to Gaastmeer, where we made a stop at D’ald Herberg.
On the way back, a circus unfolded on the Vago with cartwheels and handstands performed on the trapeze, adding a playful twist to the sail. After a delightful day out on the water, it was time to pack up our belongings and call it a weekend. Fully loaded, cars and the Vago made their way back to Wageningen, with a well-deserved stop at McDonald’s along the way.
A huge thanks to the ZeilCie for this amazinggg weekend!!
