You’d say that a lot of wind would result in a lot of sailing, but sadly, this wasn’t the case during the third Nestor race. Where the second race was cancelled because there was too little wind, today it was cancelled because there was too much! But luckily, we still had a great day :)
We started the day in Wageningen, where most of us could ride with Niek. We were only 30 minutes late -> great score. A lot of teams were present as many organisations managed to form teams, though maybe some were a bit ‘brak’ from the Nestor party in Utrecht the night before. After a quick briefing, the first groups went out on the water. It quickly became clear that the wind was very strong. Considering that the boats weren’t insured above wind of Beaufort scale six, and because of general safety, the organisers decided it would be best to cancel the race. As we had not yet sailed, we (especially Koen who definitely got his money worth) spent the time enjoying the knakworst lunch.
As we travelled all the way to Rotterdam for sailing, we still wanted to do something aqua themed and took the metro to the Maritiem Museum. Here we did a nice ‘offshore experience’ where even got diplomas! Then we went to the exhibitions, where some really enjoyed the content and others really enjoyed the couches. Afterwards we went for dinner where we had tasty food as a reward for all our efforts.

After all, we still had a really fun day in Rotterdam. As this was the final race of the winterseries these matches have now ended. Even though we had only one day of actual sailing it was still a nice time spend with fellow aqua members or meeting the other associations. It is now time to leave the winter behind (officially) and look toward the summer competitions. The first race is already coming up as the first Valkracing match for the Nestor trophy on the 11th of April. See you there?
